Anne's family come from the Burgundy region of France. In France most of the family have been involved in grape growing and winemaking for many generations. Anne's father, Jean-Charles Renaud, came to Australia after the Second World War and worked initially in the vineyards and winery at Dalwood, then owned by Penfolds.

Peter and Anne spent seven months with the family in France, which kindled a desire to experience the lifestyle of a vigneron! Peter has since undertaken wine science and viticultural studies at Charles Sturt University and teaches these subjects at the Hunter Institute of TAFE.

We grow four varieties of grapes: semillon, chardonnay, pinot noir and shiraz. So, we have combined the traditional Hunter varieties with those from Burgundy! We are particularly proud of our pinot noir which is made very much in the French manner. From time to time we buy parcels of fruit for special release wines such as our 2004 Hunter Valley merlot and 2005 Orange cabernet sauvignon.
